"Zoom fatigue" is an all-too-familiar reality for many of us who have spent months working through lockdown. With this in mind, we have designed this series of virtual events to share the greatest number of insights and ideas from some of our leading fund managers, in the shortest possible timeframe. Please join us for as many of the sessions as you can to hear the "quick thinking" of no fewer than three of our experts, in a total of little more than 30 minutes.

Sustainable investing: irreversible change in the investment landscape

Investors have become increasingly aware that their allocations can have a measurably positive impact on the planet, people, and profits. And this is just the start of a significant and long-term trend, believes Abbie Llewellyn-Waters, Head of Sustainable Investing at Jupiter. She will explain how to avoid tick box ESG investing and adopt an authentic, analytical approach in a special video presentation on her strategy and portfolio. She will be happy to take your questions.

New Order: Japan’s dynamic young companies

Japan’s corporate image as staid and stuffy is well deserved, but it belongs more to the past than the future. In this session, Dan Carter will look at some of Japan’s dynamic new companies. The last couple of years have seen a new breed of company IPO on the Japanese stock market, typically high growth, asset light and tech enabled businesses in fields such as e-commerce, cloud software services and app development. These might not sound like typical holdings for an income strategy, but Dan will explain how this new generation of company has found a home as part of his investment approach.

The plumbing behind next-gen tech

As the world becomes ever more connected and automated, the role of leading-edge chips, datacentres and cloud infrastructure in this growth story is absolutely critical. In this presentation, Nick Payne will talk about how investors can position their portfolios to take advantage of the opportunities in the world’s technological plumbing, as many of the world’s leading players are found in emerging markets. Next-gen technologies such as 5G, smart homes, smart cities, driverless cars, wearable technology, AI and robotics all rely on the latest chips and data infrastructure, with huge amounts of R&D and capex spend helping drive innovation. Separating the winners from the also-rans through active stock-picking will be key to achieving long-term outperformance.
